Chase Freedom cardholders, be aware that the new 5X spending
category bonuses are now active. The categories include movie theaters,
Starbucks, and most importantly, grocery stores. Each quarter, you can earn 5x
bonus up to $1500 on the rolling Freedom categories. This is important because
the purchase of gift cards at grocery stores counts towards this total. If you
have either a Chase Sapphire Preferred card or one of the premium Chase Ink
cards, then this is a great offer to earn a quick 7500 UR points. I value UR
points around 2 cents per, or in this case, $150 of value if you spend the
$1500 within these categories. You do need to activate the bonus categories,
but you are allowed to retroactively activate it. I have already met the $1500
spending limit this quarter with the purchase of three $500 Visa gift cards.
