Airline Alliances

There are three major airline alliances, One World, Star Alliance, and Sky Team, to which the soon-to-be three American based airlines belong. In addition to alliances, many of the airlines have partnerships with other airlines that are outside of their alliance. It is important to be aware of this as it presents more opportunities for using your airline miles for award flights. Below I have provided the three alliances and their airlines as of 12/17/2014.
